Honors Program at FSU

Does anyone know about the honors program here? The website says you are invited to join if you have a 3.9+ (FSU calculated GPA) and a 1300+ SAT (CR + M). Is the Honors dorm nicer than the other dorms? Are there any other perks to being a member of the honor's community?

honors college students get free donuts every Friday

how do they calculate your GPA? those are very objective statistics. a 3.9 could be really high or really low, depending on your school.

I have a 3.7 and (the equivalent of) a 1450...?

can you transfer in after you're accepted?

I am not sure about the transfer issue. Check the website: www.honors.fsu.edu. I believe that if you have a 3.8 after 12 credits you can transfer in. As for the GPA, you need to contact the admissions office and ask. I had heard that all Florida schools recalculate your GPA using only academic classes. They give .5 point for honors and 1 point extra for AP (no pluses or minuses count). So, a B in an AP class is worth 4.0, an A- in an honors class is 4.5, a B+ in a regular class is a 3.0, etc...
