Honors program at UC Davis?

Heya guys!

I received an email from the director of the honors program at UCD for having a high GPA, and I was wondering if any of you are familiar with this program? It sounds like a great opportunity to get closer to the professors. If anyone has some information or suggestions, please feel free to share them!

1.) Most likely you’ll have to go through an application before you are accepted into the program.
2.) If you’re living in the dorms you’ll likely be put in the honors building (if you so choose).
3.) It may be a great opportunity to know professors but of course it is what you make of it (Being in the the program doesn’t give you a sign that says “hey professor, I’m an honors kid, I’d like an internship now!”). “Getting close” to a professor is an opportunity available to everyone else, though it may be easier for those in the program.
4.) You’ll likely have to take certain extra courses or seminars.
5.) The courses/seminars mentioned above are NOT the same as honors/advanced version of major classes (honors chem, honors calculus, etc)
6.) You get priority registration.

Do it. I think you get priority for classes, don’t you? And seminars with professors instead of TAs? I don’t know that being in the program means you have to satisfy all the requirements to ‘graduate with honors’ but I don’t know that. Look into it, at minimum. It is an opportunity not everyone has.
