@gasenioryear yes my school gives us 3 points on our average for AP classes. I had a 100 in all of them after the 3 points were added. The highest GPA you can get at my school is a 4.0.
@futuredawg I am afraid we are a casualty from the fact that UGA adds a full point to gpa for every AP course a student has completed. Some GPAs as high as 4.6. Mine would be a 4.26. We probaably have ACT and SAT scored higher than some who got auto admit, but GPA counts the most. We are treated as if we have no AP classes since our school adds points to our grade… even though neither of us needed them for an A.
If you look at admit stats of 8000 students, mid 50 % was 4.0-4.26. so basicallyour 4.0 without weight puts us in bottom 25% of GPAs, even though we actually have all As and many AP classes. Very discouraging because you like me, probably worked hard to get scores where they needed to be for auto admit.
@gasenioryear Yeah… I am discouraged that I most likely didn’t make the cut because there’s nothing I could’ve done better unless my school offered more AP’s with a different system.

@jeepgirl The Honors website says letters will be sent out followed by an email verification. I haven’t gotten my letter yet, but I live farther south than everyone else. I just got an email at 1:30.

I just got on to check on you. Have been traveling all day to New York. Airlines all backed up. Congrats!!! I knew yesterday when my S letter came a week later that you had gotten in also sndbour letters got lost!!!

We are so confused at to why D didn’t get auto admit. Top 1.5% of class, Charter scholarship, 4.2 GPA, 34 ACT, 1500 new SAT.

I was going to post that Honors looks at ACT subscores- but I would have thought a 1500 on the SAT would have been high enough. Does her SAT score show as being received by UGA?
She should fill in the honors application. I am confident she stands a good chance of being admitted into Honors.
Does the foundation fellowship scholarship application count as the honors college application also?

I don’t think so- though the process has changed since my d’s days
I have mentioned before - My d2 was admitted to Honors through her CURO application. She didn’t get auto admit in the first wave, but was admitted when she was invited the CURO interview. ( Her ACT was 34 , but subscore was 32.5, she had a 36 in Science and Reading)

I am so sorry. I know that feeling. My d had a friend that was so disappointed she ended up choosing another school. But, it really is a numbers game for auto admits. I know from our hs only a couple of kids received auto admits every year. Its hard to explain when your child has done everything to make themselves competitive. Please have her apply. I am sure it will work out for her.
