Honors Program for Bio Major and Pre-Med

I will major in biology and be on the pre-med track next year with a goal of ultimately attending medical school. Would the Honors program be beneficial or harmful to do?

It really depends on who you are as a student. Honors is basically a reading and writing class for the first two semesters. If you can handle extensive amounts of reading and writing and you tend to be good at it then you should go for it. But if reading and writing is not your thing, then don’t do it because it will destroy your GPA. Honors 101 and 102 which are the required courses in freshman year are both double credit courses, meaning that they count twice in your gpa. So again, if you are a good reader and writer, then do it, it’ll really be an asset. But if that’s something you struggle in, then maybe opt out.
