Honors Program letter?

Just wondering if anybody got an honors program invite with their letter. My friend got his letter today, no invite, but they haven't been clear about whether they're gonna be with the letters or mailed separately.

Has everyone gotten their letter? I haven’t gotten mine yet =/

How far away are you from Chapel Hill? I live about half an hour away, so if you don’t live in the triangle or are OOS, it might take another few days.

I’m about 6 hours out so that could account for the delay. Thanks.

We live in Raleigh & have not recieved a letter yet either!

No letter here in the boonies north of Winston-Salem. Sometimes it takes a few days. :)

Just got the acceptance packet yesterday in the mail here in the triad.

Still no acceptance letter in the mail today!?!?

I just pulled the following from the UNC Admissions blog:

The Honors Program will send their invitation letters out by 2/11. Scholarship Day invitations were mailed on 1/26. The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid will make additional awards in the upcoming weeks. These awards are obviously not included in the Scholarship Day program. Recipients of scholarships will be notified by letter - not through their MyUNC portal.

Thanks,

Son just received email invitation to the Honors College.

Awesome, catdaddy!!

catdaddy–did he receive this at his regular addy or his NC addy?

Nothing yet for DS. To tell the truth, we care more about $$$ than honors. But it’s so discouraging. Apparently DS’s relative lack of ECs is hurting him. Who knew?

I just don’t get this EC obsession. There was nothing like that when I was in school, way back in the Dark Ages. I was in science club and art club and a few other things, but prospective colleges didn’t seem all that excited about that stuff back then. It certainly did not seem to play any role in my acceptances/scholarships/fin. aid.

Sorry…just beebling…

LadyDianeski - He received this through our regular email address. He hasnt looked at his UNC portal yet.

is the email that says “your invitation to the honors college - watch your inbox for an invitation to honors carolina” mean admission to the honors program, or that i should just be waiting for a decision?

^Wondering the same thing britpop. My son got the email you described too!

It sure sounds like an actual invite.

Waaaah, nothing like that for DS. This is starting to get disheartening. Poor kid knocked himself out for SAT I and SAT IIs, not to mention PSAT (he’s NMSF; may be NMF; don’t know yet). Result: lots of acceptances; not much else. (He did get into other schools’ honors programs. It would be nice to get into Carolina’s, too, though, preferably with some moolah…)

I know we should count our blessings re all the acceptances. Still, it would be nice to know that he can actually afford to attend one of these institutions. ;-)

Sorry for whining. Not a good week for us. :(

I saw the email DS received. It is definitely a congrats email and says to watch for more info in the mailbox. They must be sending a packet out.

I got an email today as well. Apparently a letter is on its way.

I got an email too! It makes me feel better for not getting an invite to scholarship day. The rest of my day was full of tragedy, so it was great news.
