raideraide…don’t believe the “horror” stories…they are simply untrue. Hopkins is a wonderful place to live, learn, and party…I graduated last May, and am now a grad student at an ivy. I miss Hopkins every single day, and return as often as possible to visit friends and for events…like this weekend.
Also, if I might suggest…don’t pick a school on your perception of what your major might be, unless you are applying into a special program to which you must gain admittance. You very well may change your mind. Go to the stronger school, unless money is a consideration. But if you do choose Hopkins, and are academically able, you will LOVE it!

I’m not getting involved with this silliness about whether or not JHU is a competitive environment. I will, however, support what “collegehelp” wrote.
I noticed this too with my son’s acceptances. He got really nice merit-aide and into Honors programs at his safeties and lower ranked schools. But nothing at the top ranked school.

I see that that’s what colleges use to ‘seal-the-deal’ and get applicants to accept their offer. I suppose that was obvious, but it was very clear this year with my son’s acceptances.
