Decision: Accepted
Business Honors Program

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 760 CR 790 M 800 W
[] ACT (highest composite w/breakdown): Did not submit, but 33 Composite
[] SAT II: US History 780 English Lit 750 Math II 760 World History 750
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): ~3.86
[] Weighted GPA: 4.204
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 69/1300
[] AP (place score in parentheses): US History 5, English Language 5, World History 4
[] Senior Year Course Load: 4 APs, otherwise all honors
[] Number of other EA applicants in your school: A couple applied before the October 1st deadline, but I would say more than 12 applied to the program overall
Much too lazy to write out everything [Image 64999 - CtrlV.in](<a href=“Featured Posts - Amirite”>Featured Posts - Amirite)
**Writing (Write a brief description and Rate Quality on 1-10 Scale; 10 as Best):7, introspective **[ list]
[] Essays (Include Subjects): Honestly, I don’t remember what I wrote for my essays, but it’s definitely important to have: Teachers, people who got into fantastic universities, people you know really well to see if ‘you’ shines through, and people you don’t know too well to use as a control.[ list]
[] Other:
[] Teacher Recommendation #1: Great
[] Counselor Rec: Decent
[] Interview: It went well. Things to keep in mind: The interview questions are so stereotypically like a job interview that it’s uncanny. Before you go in, have in mind the achievements that you’re most proud of and the projects you led outside of school.
[] What did you choose as your major: Finance + maybe economics
[] Date Submitted App: Early November
[] State (if domestic applicant): In-State
[] School Type: Large competitive public
[] Ethnicity: Indian American
[] Gender: Male
[] Income Bracket: 120k+
[] Strengths: SAT, business oriented ECs, recommendation
[] Weaknesses: AP Courseload, Class rank/GPA
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Honestly, I thought my class rank precluded me from admission into BHP. Feeling that you’re deficient in one area of your application should not stop you from putting your best effort toward applying.
[li] What would you have done differently?: I definitely would have worked harder in debate and on my class-rank during freshman and sophomore years. I would have focused on maybe 3-4 extracurriculars for really good achievements instead of spreading myself thin and meager achievements in each.[/li]General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations, etc:[/ul]
PM me if you want a closer look at my essays

[size=+2]Decision: Accepted/size

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 2390 (790 in writing)
[] SAT I superscore (breakdown): I took it once
[] ACT (highest composite w/breakdown): 35 (mainly 35s)
[] ACT (Highest subsection from each test): Again, once
[] SAT II: 780 lit, 780 math2, 720 physics, 630 Spanish
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
[] Weighted GPA: very high
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 2nd of ~300
[] AP (place score in parentheses): Stat (5), World History (5), European History (5)
[] IB (place score in parentheses): none
[] Senior Year Course Load: all APs
[] Number of other applicants in your school: none that I know of
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): no thanks[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parentheses): I focused on 3 clubs - based on volunteering, writing, and academics, respectively. 2 leadership roles.
[] Job/Work Experience: none
[] Volunteer/Community service: none besides extracurriculars[/ul]Writing (Write a brief description and Rate Quality on 1-10 Scale; 10 as Best):[ul]
[] Essays (Include Subjects): I’m just going to say these were all decent. My topics were whatever I felt most strongly about.
[] Teacher Recommendation #1: How should I know?
[] Teacher Recommendation #2: ?
[] Counselor Rec: ?
[] Additional Rec: none
[] Interview: didn’t have one
[] Art Supplement: none[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Which school did you apply to?: CNS (Engineering second choice)
[] What did you choose as your major: Computer Science!
[] Date Submitted App: the day it was due… yes, I know, I’m horrible
[] State (if domestic applicant): OOS. Not from either coast.
[] Country (if international applicant): nope
[] School Type: nice public
[] Ethnicity: meh
[] Gender: I’m a girl
[] Income Bracket: well that’s rude
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): ._.[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: I participate in a lot of math contests, which I would guess helped with Turing. I’m also a writer, so maybe I’m well-rounded.
[] Weaknesses: I never played a sport. I don’t have community service hours outside of school clubs.
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I honestly feel like I belong in the program, and I just tried to show that.
[li] What would you have done differently?: written my essays earlier. u_u[/ul]Other Factors: dunno.[/li]General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations, etc: Make sure you submit the main application early, because the honors applications are only available afterwards and they have the same due date.
