Honors program selectivity?

i couldn’t find any actual stats online, and i’m curious. my top choice is william and mary early decision, but i need to be prepared in case that falls through. jmu honors college is my second choice, but i’m not sure how qualified i am for it. i have a 1460 sat, but my gpa is only 3.9 weighted. my course rigor is very high, but, again, i do not know how much jmu cares about that. my unweighted is a little higher than 3.5. i’m in-state, if that matters. my low gpa can be attributed to family problems/mental health (depression/anxiety that i’m medicated for now) freshman and sophomore year, and i have shown great improvement while taking many classes at a local university as a part of the governor’s school. i have unique extra-curriculars, but i haven’t cured cancer or anything. i guess i’m just making myself sound better, though, as most people do on any online college discussion board. what i’m asking is if i have a reasonable chance at getting in to the honors college?

if anyone is curious, my priority for college is w&m > jmu honors > uva > gwu > vtech > jmu > gmu

I would say you have a good chance for honors at JMU. Best of luck.

Interesting…I don’t think it’s that hard to get in considering you’re applying for UVA, GWU and William and Mary. That personally tells me that you must be pretty smart. And if you really scored 1460 then JMU honors should not be difficult for you at all. You could probably clean up your writing up a bit- just as a general tip.
