Please feel free to ask me ANYTHING... I am also an Honors Ambassador and on several Honors Program committees. I am also applying to become a Scarlet Ambassador (like a tour guide but better), so I know a lot about the school in general.

I will be completely honest with you. Send me a private message if you'd prefer.

Good luck with your college decisions and GO RU!

I’m trying to decide between UCF Honors and UF non-honors. I made a pro-con list.
(i’m majoring in business … what do you suggest?)

UF:
better school
make new friends (don’t know a lot of people going)
like the campus
college town
football games/united students
feels more like me

UCF:
Honors program
$10,000 scholarship
smaller classes
friends going there (2 best friends)
better dorms
like the Orlando area
comfortable environment
they want me more

I just applied to the honors program for SAS. I have a 4.0/5.4 gpa and a 1350 SAT, and a pretty good essay. Is it safe to say that I will be accepted or no?

based on purely stats levitylev, I’d say yes. But how are your recs? and is there a reason why you weren’t admitted to begin with? ie making the rank/sat cutoff?

naoise, I have good recs. Firstly, my SAT CR score is 600 and not 650. Otherwise i have 750 on math, 760 writing, and 12 on essay. Secondly, I’m not ranked in the top 10% of my class.

Students accepted into the honors program automatically receive scholarships? I scored a 1480/2190 (750m, 730cr, 710w) on the sat… how much scholarship will that get me?

depends on your gpa and rank. check the other threads that are specifically about first-year scholarships. and it’s not automatic. It’s coincidental that the smart kids are in the hp and are getting scholarships.

and levitylev, you’re good to go.

and you only need to be a sophomore to have a car on campus. that’s about 23 credits or more if I’m not mistaken. and yeah, ap credit counts for that.

how closely do they look at the top 10% cut off? I’m no where near that, but i believe my SAT, AP and course load overly outweighs that. What is the process to get your application under review?

bluebacon: you’ll be happy to know that they do take other things into consideration. I know someone who was probably 20% in the class and got into the hp with a 1360 m/v and with some stellar extracurrics (she’s got a pilot license, takes cooking classes, multiple editor positions etc)

I believe the process is that they look at your recs and essay and most likely courseload.

I also got into the honors program, but I only received a 10k a year scholarship so I’m not sure if I’m going to go. Are you having a good time at Rutgers? Do you feel bad you’re there instead of a more selective school? Is your experience in the honors program/overall experience what you want/expected it to be?

Is all honors housing at Rutgers better than the standard dorm ?
Also, what’s the workload like? Is there a large gap between honors and non honors students?
