Anyone receive a letter about Rutgers' Honors Programs? If you did, what letter does your last name start with? I just need to see something. o.o

I did. Last name begins with M.

are you in state??

wow impressive! congrats!

my gpa is about the same (w though), and my sat score is 230 points less than yours aw

i did get a “congratulations!” packet from rutgers in the mail (although I don’t understand why they need to do that since I’ve known since November that I got in…), but that was it. I hope that doesn’t mean that I didn’t get in! Hopefully, they’ll send me an acceptance letter to the honors program soon… ahh

Fingers crossed for you!

My older brother didn’t get in at first, but then he got in Sophomore year. It was just as good, and he was very happy about it. So don’t sweat it. :)

just how do you get into the honors program?

Is this just for Newark or for New Brunswick?

I’ve expected that I would definitely qualify in-state for honors program (4.0 uw/4.6 out of 4.7 GPA, 2330 on SATS) and I’m kind of concerned I didn’t get my letter yet :/

I didn’t get an honors letter from Newark, just a welcome. I’m not sure Newark has an Honors College. Maybe only New Brunswick has one?

As for getting in, they notify entering Freshmen based on application. After that, you apply.

http://nb.rutgers.edu/academics/honors-programs

NB A&S honors program acceptance letter arrived yesterday. Did not apply for this honors program, acceptance must have been based on admissions stats; No notification about scholarships yet, though meets Prsidential SAT requirements.

gal1234 congrats on getting into the honors program.

since your brother is in can you please share his experience, what is special … did he have many classes with small class size, did he get research opportunities? what else

He graduated last year with am major in Biology, and yes he did research, but he would have done that Honors College or not. He said the social activities were a big part, especially if you’re not into partying every weekend night. He said being in the Honors College just in general keeps you in the company of other students most likely to fill their time wisely.

He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, one of the most prestigious honor societies in the country, if not the most prestigious. He credits the Honors College for that.

He also said classes tend to get smaller as you get deeper into your major in general, and he wasn’t in Honors College freshman year, when classes tend to be the largest.

DS received his Honors Program admission letter 2 days ago.
Last name starts with R. We’re instate.

I was very happy about this but he doesn’t even care. I only wish he was half as enthusiastic about the Rutgers Honors Program. <sigh></sigh>

Good luck to all those who are waiting for their notifications.

Got a BIG envelope today from NB, a welcome packet. No $$$ info, though. The packet says to look for scholarship info from January-April.

They said that Honors Program letters will be sent out now until January. And scholarship notifications are sent in January. Their Honors Program system is a little messed up at the moment but it goes on a rolling basis.

Got my letter today =) Nervous about the Presidential Scholarship… I meet the SAT and class rank requirements, but my SATs are kind of average for a student of my rank on the 1600 scale and I know the Presidential scholarship is based off scores more than anything. Did you guys send in activities sheets as well? My counselor told me not to send one to Rutgers but I wonder if that would make a difference…

hm…so it looks like they’re not sending the mail based on last name.

Got mine today, last name is D. Only Honors for Arts & Sciences, no Engineering unfortunately.
