Honors Program

ok so i didnt get into the honors program cause my hs gpa sucked and my sat scores werent enough to satisfy it. is there anyway i can still get into the honors program before sophomore year?

PS: can anyone explain to me how the meal plan works at ucr? i want to go with the blue meal plan but it only provides 7 meals a week??? so i can only have 1 meal a day assuming im not going home for the weekends?

You can apply to get into the honors program at the start of your sophomore year, not before.

here’s how the meals plans work
Tartan gives you 150 meals, 100 dining dollars, and 5 guest passes per quarter
Gold gives you 100 meals, 200 dining dollars, and 2 guest passes per quarter
Blue 75 gives you 75 meals, 225 dining dollars, and 0 guest passes per quarter.

75 meals divided by (11 weeks times 7 days) (10 weeks per quarter, plus one week for finals) = .974, so yes, approximately one meal a day, BUT you’d also have approximately three bucks a day in dining dollars, plus you’ll use cash when you get meals off campus, and sometimes you’ll just have ramen in your room or something. I highly recommend getting blue75, the cheapest plan, because you can always upgrade to gold or tartan if you find that it’s not enough food, but if you get gold or tartan, they will NEVER let you downgrade. I got gold, and I didn’t use all my meal swipes, and I tried to downgrade twice, and they wouldn’t let me. So I ended up wasting money on a plan that was too much food for me.

i c. and how much does meals cost in dining dollars?

if my memory serves me right, $6.75 for breakfast, $7.50 for lunch, and $11.25 for dinner. I think I’m slightly off though.

and they might’ve changed the prices since last year.

If you ask the honors counselor’s nicely and seem to really want in, they might let you in. If not, you can apply in the spring, but you need a 3.5+ gpa to be eligible. This may be a bit difficult for some people. So you needa do well in your fall and winter quarter.

Oh and get blue 75, you’ll eat like 1-2 meals a day. Stock up on hot pockets, college essential.

hot pockets ftw.

haha alright thanks everyone.
