Honors Program

For those of you in the honors program, I am trying to get a feel for the program. What do you think is good/bad about it? Does your social life revolve around other honors students or does it extend beyond that? Any other info is appreciated.

I’m not in honors so I’m not qualified to answer this question but here is a list of students who would be happy to answer your questions for you!

Son is a senior in the Honors Program/Business School. He chose not to live in Holmes (honors housing) as a freshman and actually the only ‘honors-focused’ activities involve the requirements to graduate with the honors designation - General, Departmental or both. Note: you can qualify for the honors program even after freshmen year if you have the required GPA.
Big pluses are definitely the preferential course registration and smaller class sizes. He has also taken advantage of advance/free tickets to certain on campus events as well as some other perks. For many, living in Holmes (one of the nicer freshman dorms) is also a draw of the program. He has done well with merit scholarships over the years, but I’m not sure if that relates to being in the honors program or not.

I also have a question about that. If I applied to clemson for their non-honors program, would they put me in honors if my stats were really good? Also, if I applied for the honors program and didn’t get in and I was good enough for the non-honors program, would they allow me to do non-honors or would they completely reject me?

Application for the Calhoun Honors College is separate from the application for admission to the university. If you want a chance to be in the honors college, you’ll have to fill out an application here: [Deadlines/Timeline : Clemson University](Apply)
