Just got my acceptance letter, and didn't list anything about this. How do apply for the honors program? Is that only after I enroll, or is there something I'm missing? Thanx in advance.

I was wondering the same thing...

hey, i'm a current student in the Rutgers College Honors Prog.

How they accept kids to the honors program is very simple... its a rubric--
1500+ 15%+ OR
1400+ 10%+ OR
1350+ 5%
(referring to SAT and class rank)

They send out the decisions to people seperately but if you fit into the rubric and don't get a letter within the next few months (probably by the end of january i'd say) i would give the honors program office a call.

also--- if you have any questions about the honors program, ask away.

I have a 1350 but I'm top 10%...Does that mean I can't get in?

it's a strict rubric pretty much... they don't give much breathing room.

if your guidance counselor recommends you specifically, you can still get in... but i think that is only if your school doesn't rank.

you can call the office and ask about this maybe.

however, you can still get into the honors program if you're a regular student in the college. if you get a 3.8 i believe you get in.

don't let that deter you from coming to rutgers though... i'm very happy w/ my experience so far.

The problem is, I sent them some old scores, and on the SAT I recently took, I know I scored 1400+. Will Rutgers honor the new SAT score as well as the extra scholarship money that goes with it?

uhh...what about pharmacy students? i thought there was a separate honors system for us...

yea there is a seperate honors program for every college. I'm in the rutgers college one so I was talking about that. I don't really know how the other ones work, but it's easy enough to find out.
you can get the info here: http://admissions.rutgers.edu/0601.asp

and sanosuke-- if you send them the score, they should honor it. it wouldn't hurt to call and alert them to it (things can be looked over unless you take care of your business here)

Thanx for all the help. I'll be sure to call and check as soon as I can.

i just got a letter today inviting me to apply to the livingston honors college, but i havent heard anything from rutgers college... maybe they send those out later

^ same here.
rutgers college is at the end of december I believe.
Just got rejected from my ED ....very upset, but at least I got into Rutgers in October so I have a safety, right? Ah..I feel like just clicking the enroll and not worry about applying to any other college.

Under-represented Minority

Highest SAT Score (1 Sitting): V - 600; M - 630; W - 620

Ranked 1/350

In-State

sorry-- probably not w/ a 1230 for the honors program. unless something exceptional happens but i don't think they will ever go below 1300.

remember though you can still get into the honors program after your first year if you hold a 3.8 (which is possible, but no piece of cake)

What under represented minority?

They don't go below a 1300? I got a 1290 (SOOO ANNOYING!! Lol), do you think they'll make an exception? I'm an URM, too.

To be an URM basically means to be part of a minority group that that does not make up much of the college's population.
