My son received a merit scholarship to Seton Hall. He keeps receiving emails prompting him to join the Honors College. Does anyone know the pros and cons of joining the Honors College? I reviewed the courses online and some info about the program, but I don't feel like I understand what the true benefit would be to my son of joining the HC, other that getting excused from some classes. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My apologizes on lateness here:
The Honors College generally has several advantages:
1). This year freshman get to live in Aquinas suites(very very good and pretty dorms)
2). People do not have to take an English or Journey of Transformation as Honors replaces this
3). Completing Honors allows one to have a minor in Philosophy as well.
Cons
1). Alot of work; one must keep up with the work and there are daily quizzes.
2). One must be motivated as well to do well, otherwise one will not do well in the course
3). The course is very weighted(about 6 credits) so one must pay particular attention to their grad ein the class or their GPA can suffer.
