Honors Program?

Applying to UF as an OOS applicant from a rigorous college prep school with a 4.0 unweighted GPA (school does not weigh) and a 2050 SAT score. My SAT is 20 points under what UF wants for the Honors Program, but I know that my weighted UF GPA will be well above the 4.0 weighted that they require. I am hoping that I am invited to apply to the Honors Program on Feb. 13. Now for my questions…

  1. What are my chances of being invited??

  2. If I am not invited, I plan on pursuing the petition process. Are the chances via that route so slim that its not worth it?

  3. I was accepted to the Honors College at the University of Maryland. Would this help me at all being that UMD and UF are similar caliber schools?

Thanks!

If you don’t have the SAT score (2070) you’ll likely not be invite. However, the petition process is fairly simple, and if you do well on the essay and have the non-academics (EC’s and such) you have a better than average chance of being accepted.

I don’t think UF will take your U Maryland’s acceptance into account, but you never know.

Good Luck!
