Honors Program

I have recently been accepted to Bentley with honors and half tuition scholarship. Can any current students in the honors program share their experiences and tell me if its worth it or not? I read on the website about the advantages but they weren’t really explained that well so any information would help. Thanks!

Hi Justinn76,
I am a current honors program student at Bentley! As a senior here I am finishing up my honors requirements and can say that it has been a great experience for me. The honors program requires that you take 8 honors course (6 outside of your major and 2 in your major) as well as complete a capstone project during your senior year on a topic of your choice. I have loved my honors classes. They cap the classes at a smaller number than a normal class so there are less students in each honors class than if you were to take a standard level course. You are not required to take honors courses on top of your normal courses - an honors class fulfills all requirements. For example, you could take your expository writing requirement at the honors level - fulfilling the expos requirement and one honors course requirement. Often these classes, in addition to being smaller, are much more discussion based and participation is encouraged. I find that the classes are especially great because you are surrounded by other honors students who challenge your thinking and work at the same high-level that you do. You really get to know the other students in the honors program and the classes are always challenging (in a good way!). I hope this helps!
