<p>Anyone know the average stats for someone in the honors program at Chapel Hill.</p>
<p>egghead: I'm not sure of the "average stats," but I do know that quality of application essays carries some considerable weight. Since only 200 freshmen are selected each year for the honors program (split fairly evenly between in-state and out-of-state students), these are usually top students in terms of gpa, the rigor of the course load in high school, and test scores. However, I have known of students who had stellar grades, scores, etc., and who were not put in the honors program as freshmen. I <em>suspect</em> this had to do, in large part, with the quality of the writing on their application essays.</p>
