I applied to the Honors Program for the class of 2011. Does anybody know the notification date for honors applicants? As far as I can see, it's not given on the website. I assume it would be earlier than regular decision notification because the deadline was earlier, but maybe it's not. Perhaps some time around January 1st, because the app was due December 1st? Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I believe they tell you the same time as everyone else. I am almost sure they inform you're accepted and then send a separate letter telling you you're accepted into honors. But don't hold me to this. Call admissions and ask.

I recall UD's letter of acceptance arriving around the same general time as the rest of my applications but was actually my last acceptance. Although the deadline was Dec 1st I know that I did NOT apply for honors initially and was sent a letter saying that I was a good candidate for the honors program and I didn't have to send in my honors portion of the application til much later. I believe the honors is the same time as the non honors as I knew people who were not honors applicants and received theirs around the same time.

... good luck!

They don't have ED anymore, but I do remember that one of the things mentioned in the ED information was that even if accepted ED you would not know about Honors Program acceptance until the spring. DD was doing RD so that didn't matter anyway. One of the things she likes about being in the Honors Program is the convenience of being in the Russell Complex for her dorm.

You will find out if you got into the Honors Program the same time that you get your acceptance letter, which is in March. Good luck!

Oh man, that's annoying. I was hoping I'd find out early so I could make my decision sooner.

Thanks for all of your responses!

The only way you will find out sooner is if you get invited to the scholarship competition. Those letters go out in February.

... but if you don't get invited to the scholarship competition don't fret because they give out lots of scholarships with regular acceptances

Scholarship competition....??

Can you explain what this is? Thanks.

The university invites 100 or so of the best applicants to the school for a weekend to compete for the top scholarships. This includes the DuPont scholarship, which covers tuition, housing, and books for every semester. However, like anovice said, Delaware gives out a lot of other merit scholarships.

when do the scholarship letters go out?

General scholarships go out with acceptance letters.

I got a letter in the mail today...i'm not too far from DE, so the rest of you should be hearing soon, too...woot, accepted into CAS and honors prog!

Wow, I guess they sent the letters out really early this year.

congrats! wow, that seems like a month earlier than we all thought! i'm curious, did you apply common app or udel app?

i did common app...and hey, thanks!

the reason (that i've heard) that they're so early is that last year, they had a very low matriculation rate, supposedly due to getting the letters out later than other schools...the packet is kind of nifty, actually...very constitutional-esque...
