Any info on the Honors Program? I got in but am unsure of exactly what it means.

What classes are taken? Size of classes? How many people in Honors program? Same housing? Same cost? Better reputation? Any help in the biological sciences?

Are you in Arts and Science Honors or CSOM (business)? While both programs definitely are more "prestigious", they vary a lot in content, size, etc. I'm in CSOM Honors and can offer plenty of information on our program, but if you're in A&S, I can give you some insights as well.

yea, it really does depend on which school you have been accepted into.

In terms of how many people are in the honors program, i believe there are around 200-240 each year in A&S, very few in CSOM (abt 30 this year), and even fewer in the the nursing school and the lynch school (education).

BC does offer honors housing for its freshman and sophomore honors kids. Freshman year honors housing is placed on upper campus in a residential hall called Medeiros and sophomore honors housing is on a floor in residential hall 66. Commonwealth Ave. Keep in mind that honors kids are not required to live in honors housing. In fact, anyone can apply for honors housing (of course honor's kids get precedence) and many honors kids opt not to.

Honors kids do not get any discounts in regards to cost. Sorry, the 47k price tag applies to just about everyone. The only kids who get a cut in price are those who belong to the Presidential Scholar's program. It's the only merit based scholarship BC provides and if you are a P Scholar, you would have known by this time.

All Honors Students (regardless of undergraduate division) will take a course freshman and sophomore year called "Western Cultural Traditions". This is a six credit course which meets longer than a standard course...however, given that 6 credits are fulfilled, you will only enroll in three other courses per semester. Western Cult, over the two years, will cover your core requirements in Writing (1), Literature (1), Philosophy (2), Theology (2), and two A&S Electives...for a total of 24 credits (8 courses) over the two years. The class is discussion-based, and involves a lot of reading and writing, but with only 12 students per section, it is very worthwhile and you get to know your fellow students really well. The class is also very variable depending on your professor...mine, for example, nearly lectures the entire class, which can be dry at times, but also nice in case you didn't complete all the reading :)...others are SOLELY discussion based, it just depends on the luck of the draw as to who you end up with.

Does being in the honors program help with getting internships or anything? Is it a lot more difficult than the regular curriculum? Is honors housing nicer?

So if you're in the honors program you ONLY get preference for honors housing? And this is only available for freshman and sophomore years? Because people were telling me that it's available all four years.. so now I'm a bit confused.

Does anyone know how many students enter the Honors Program sophomore year? And how exactly does that work? Are some of the courses waived or is it just twice as hard to complete the courses in time for graduation?
