Does anyone know if UF will be raising the required SAT score for application into the honors program for students graduating high school in spring 2008 and planning to enter college fall 08'?

I don't know but the requirements are already 4.0 (UF recalculated weighted) and 1400 SAT (math and critical reading sections) and 33 ACT. They cant go that much higher if they do. I doubt they will but maybe someone in the honors program might know more info.

Email: Dr. Sheila Dickison (Director, Associate Provost ) doctord@ufl.edu if you really want to know.

I doubt they'll raise their standards. If they do, it'll probably be a 1450 SAT, I'd be surprised if it went higher than that.

i hope they dont raise it...and if they do I hope its raised to 1420...cuz thats what I have and I think i've maxed out with that score.

For those who applied 2002-03 for fall 2003 school year, the honors college wanted a 30 ACT and 1300 SAT. My Daughter was admitted into the honors college that year. I do not remember the GPA requirement.

I do know that just about every year the requirements have gone up.

If they raised it any higher no one would get in!

I was speaking to one of the directors the other day (I think it was at Fridays with Honors?) and she told me that they were planning on raising it from a 1400 to a 1420 and from a 4.0 to 4.1. That really is still not THAT hard to do.

I don't know about the 4.1. You have to consider students coming from schools without AP/IB in order to have a 4.0+ gpa. I think the 4.0 should be left alone.

Yep. Got into two Ivies with a 1380 and 31. Can't get into UF Honors. :)

Just out of curiosity, what Ivies?

Ivy League Schools [i.e. Cornell, Princeton, UPenn, etc].

are you hispanic?

woops, sorry i thought you were asking what Ivies meant lol. HAHA that was stupid of me lol.

My son got into Honors and his letter said something like, the average minimum SAT was 1430. I don't know exactly what they mean by that- if it was the average score, or the minimum score. How can you have an average minimum????

Haha, that's ok UFGATORS. I can see how you might think I just talk like a caveman. What Ivies? Grunt.

In case it doesn't translate over the internet, I'm joking.

Doubleplay, I remember that letter, and that was the invitation for Fridays with Honors and the orientation things. "The average SAT score of students who receive this is 1430." That wasn't for the program itself though. But you're probably right, the honors program average is probably 1450 (small program with bright students from classes of over 6000, I wouldn't doubt it's 1450 or higher).

I laughed. Don't worry. lol.

hey, I got into Cornell and Dartmouth, BTW.

I understand how it feels to turn down top schools. Not sure if it was money issues like me.

Yep, was COMPLETELY a financial aid issue. would've had to take over 100k in loans for dartmouth even more for cornell.....UF was just the logical choice for me.

it did really upset me for a day or two, but then i began to see all the advantages of going to UF. my friends, closer to home, great sports, good academics, fun!
