so who got the honors college packet and which essay are you going to write?

i got one at the aj drexel scholars day, one in the mail, and one physically handed to me by an honors college admissions counselor... i think i get the picture - but what does everyone think about the honors college? will it be worth it... i want know what the difference is between a normal class and an "enriched class," also is living in east hall really THAT much better, and is it worth sacrificing living with normal people in bad dorms for living with "honors" kids in nicer dorms... from what i hear the freshmen in east really know how to party... and also, does anyone know what the deal is with the senior thesis? i dont wanna have anything to do with that one

any info - thanks lemme know

i think an honors class is smaller which gives you a lot more personal interaction with the proffesor...i don't really understand why you would want to be in the bad dorm...its not like the honors kids are going to be super different from the regular students at drexel and honors people just get some special classes most of your classes will be with everyone else so you really aren't segregated from the rest of the students at all

The honors program is really exciting, at least from what i gathered from speaking to an admissions rep. The program makes life a lot more interesting. If I decide on going to Dexel, i'll definitely apply. But i'm waiting for april 1st when all my other decisions come out. But the honors essay really sucks up to almighty heaven.

where can i get info on that honor program? i never heard of it. and if i get accepted already (normal program), can i still apply for the honor one? thanks

You can get info about it here www.drexel.edu/honors It is like honors in high school, you still take some regular classes with everyone else but you get special perks as well: cool small classes, awesome trip opportunities, early class registration, a nicer (IMO) dorm, and honors advisors who are super nice. It is not a college like they say it is (at least not like the college of engineering etc.) all kinds of students are involved in it and you are not forced to take the honors classes you just have the option. The application deadline is June 1st so you still have a lot of time but if you want honors housing do it asap because they have way more people in the honors college than there is space in the housing.

just wondering if anyone knows about applying for housing. i'm getting the impression that you can't register for housing until you are confirmed as a student for to 05-06 year... is this right? i don't want to miss a deadline and get screwed over. are all the honors college applicants going to apply for east hall or do you have to wait until you've heard back from penonni?

also who's attending the admitted students day on saturday? im looking forward to it...

You have to send off your acceptance form with a check or credit card number included. Once they get it, it takes only a day or two for them to update their system. Start trying to log on each day to MYHOUSING on the web page a few days after you send your stuff. When you are confirmed, the system will let you in to choose housing. It knows if you are eligible for special housing and will ask those questions on one of the pages. Hope that helps!

You should wait to apply for housing until the Honors college has confirmed your acceptance. If you don't, the honors dorm choice wont appear on the selection site. Don't wait to send in your money and acceptance though. Have you applied to Honors? You can e-mail them to ask if you are confirmed. If you havent applied yet, you can fax them the stuff and they will let you know very quickly. They tell the housing people who put it in your profile.

thanks! im just finishing up my honors essay. i just wanted to make sure that i hadn't run out of time yet. i defintely want to live in east hall so ill get it in asap. thanks again

My D faxed her honors app including the essay with a cover note saying she was waiting to hear about honors before she signed up for housing and gave her email address. She heard back the next day by e-mail.

the honors program is a joke. they accept everyone in. as for partying in east hall, most people who party get busted anyway. i wouldnt recomend drinking in the dorms, drexel is really anal. the only real benefit is living in a place without communal bathrooms, other than that, theres no difference.

Crommie, are you serious?
so is it hard to get accepted into the honors? i am considering applying for it.

I would apply for it, you get separated from the really stupid people through honors classes. But the honors program basically accepts everyone.
