How is admission to the Honors Program determined? I know at the info session, they said it's based completely on numbers. And I know they also said they recalculate GPAs. So is admission mostly dependent on GPA with SATs (or ACTs) also considered? I know it's the top 10% of the applicants... I'm just wondering how it all works. And also, how does it work with EA vs. RD applicants? Wouldn't they have to wait until people decide whether they're going to attend NEU to know who the top 10% is?

I'm just a bit confused!

[Btw, I have read the stats for accepted students on the NEU website]

Frequently Asked Questions

And top 10% of graduating class is open to interpretation. They must look at the programs against each school.

Haha, yeah those were the stats I was referring that I had read.

I'm really just wondering how it works EA vs. RD.

And top 10% is apparently objective because they have their own way of calculating GPA (heard that at info session).

It is not completely objective. It is MUCH better to apply EA to northeastern than RD. I know several people who have applied with better scores and stats than most honors students who didn't get honors applying RD. Also, there are probably a few, but all of the full ride or full tuition scholarships that I've talked to applied EA.

Also, they let EA kids know if they got honors right away. Except, that isn't the top ten percent of the entiring incoming class, is it, seeing as quite a few of them haven't even applied yet.

^That's exactly what I was thinking, lol.

Thx for the info!

I'm sure that by now, in the... I think its 116th cycle of admissions they would've figured out the average stats that they're getting and can make the decisions for EA candidates purely based on that. Other than that, I can see no other way...
