My son was accepted into the Honors Program and seems to prefer the size of UMBC over College Park. Can any current students or recent alumni comment about their experiences in the Honors Program? Thanks.

pmyen did your son get any special programs besides honors such as humanities scholars program or any amazing scholarships

5K Presidential. Accepted into Honors but not into Humanities Scholars.

at umbc did he get the humanities scholar. the honors college is good for nice small discussions. i heard polly sci is very good

does anyone know about the honors college scholarships and when they're released?

im still waiting on those too abob

There's hope for those of us who did not receive the UMBC Premier award. I emailed the Honors College and they replied with this:

Andy,

The Honors College awards are only being offered to students who did not
receive Premier or other maximum amount awards. Your assumption that
awarding two maximum amount awards to the same student not making sense is absolutely correct.

Maureen McCormick

It looks like if you received the Premier award, u probably will not receive any money from the Honors College. I received the UMBC Heritage award and hope to be awarded the Honors College Fellows (the $15k one).

awww man, i got the premier was hoping for the additional grand from honors, oh well

I received my Honors College scholarship in the mail today. i got the Honors College Fellows ($15k a year). im soo boosted. hopefully ill add the $3k maryland distinguished scholarship (i was a semifinalist) and ill be getting paid to go to college!

Does anyone know what the average SAT scores needed for the Premier or Heritage are?

I am a UMBC student in the Honors College right now. It's been an exceptional experience so far. The Honors College really does get to know every member very personally and they provide us with all the support that they can throughout every semester we are here. Honors College classes are small, personal, and quite unique as well.
