I saw that someone else asked about honors selectivity recently, and I have the same question but regarding my daughter. She’s got 1300 SAT and 4.2 weighted GPA (with a challenging curriculum). She is in marching band and on leadership and has a few other activities/volunteer stuff, but nothing that takes up as much time as band. JMU is one of her top schools and she applied EA and is working on the honors application now. Thoughts about her chances? Any other thoughts about the honors program?

My daughter is a freshman in the Jmu honors college this year. I don’t know the percentage of students accepted but I know there are about 200 freshman in the program. My daughter had a 1430 SAT and weighted GPA 4.7 in high school. The honors students get nice perks like early registration for classes, newer dorm rooms, and special events/programs. Good luck to your daughter
Wow - amazing GPA and SAT, HHSsenior! Congrats to your daughter! My daughter’s stats aren’t comparable, so I’m guessing it’s pretty competitive to get into the honor’s college. Thanks for responding!
my DS was waitlisted for the honors program, 4.10 WGPA, 1470 SAT. From reading older threads last year there were about 1,200 applicants for 200 slots. I’m guessing even more applicants this year.
