How difficult is it to get into the honors program during the spring session? What does the admissions committee look for if I apply in the spring?

Also, I am knocking out about 60 credits with AP and college classes, essentially clearing general electives requirements (with 15 cr/hr left over). How does this affect the honors program core?

AP and college classes affect Honors Core very little. S had 46.5 credits but none of them counted towards Honors( they got him out of pre-reqs for his major and some other GenEd stuff).

It's not much more difficult to get into Honors during the spring than as a freshman applicant. Honors looks at your essay much more than your grades and test scores though. Those are minor compared to what you write for your essay. There is no magic formula to figuring out what to write; however, I can tell you what not to write.

Honors isn't really interested in students who are applying just because they've always been in honors at school and want to continue along this "advanced" path. Nor are they interested in applicants who apply because Honors is "prestigious" and they want to take part in this exclusive community. They do not worry about GPA, test scores, and other statistics that you might think would "guarantee" you a spot in Honors. That's not what Honors is about.

They're more interested in hearing what your interested in, getting an idea of your thought process and perspective on things. They want students who want to learn for the sake of learning and not just to add an "Honors" distinction to their diploma. I'm sure you don't fit this description, but I hope it gives you a better sense of Honors.
