I was admitted into the honors program at NCSU which I am really excited about! I’m trying to decide whether I should live in the honors village or if I should stay in WISE. Does anyone know any stats on how many honors kids live in the village their first year vs. those who don’t? I do know that the WISE dorms are slightly bigger, but I’m not super concerned about room size as I am close to home and won’t have to store too much. I just want to understand if I would be at a disadvantage within the honors program for not living in the village. Thank you for any insight!
Also I’ll be an engineering major if it makes a difference.
Congrats!
My middle son stayed in the honors his freshman year and enjoyed it, he is a Physics major (so yes a little geeky), so it was close to all his classes and he liked having the cafeteria right there, as well as their quad.
If WISE is still in Lee, then it’s also fairly close to a cafeteria as well (I have all sons, so that may be a bigger issue in my house). My oldest son tutored for the WISE program. That may be one advantage of WISE, having specific tutors one site. If you are going into engineering then the first year is very important to keep your grades up, so that you can code in to your choice of disciplines.
Good Luck
My son got into Honors, and is planning on staying in the Honors Village.
My daughter was a science major and an Honors student who really enjoyed living in the Honors Village. It was quiet and thus conducive to studying. She said some of the Honors seminars are in the Quad, and it’s really nice to walk down the hall or to the building next door for class. She doesn’t have any experience with the WISE dorm, but said she always felt academically supported living in Honors housing.
Got into the honors as well. So excited, can’t wait to take advantage of that early registration.
