Honors vs AP Classes?

I was just wondering how much top schools-such as Stanford-differentiate between AP classes and Honors Classes. Is a 4.5 GPA earned with AP classes looked at differently than a 4.5 GPA earned with Honors classes? My counselor said that colleges don't even count honors classes as being weighted, is this true?

It's always a good idea to challenge yourself by taking tougher rather than easier classes. That's better preparation for college.

Does your school offer an AP in the Honors course you've taken? My school just dropped the AP label, so suddenly everything is Honors. In my case, the Honors courses are counted the same way as AP, but if you're in Honors European History, and your school offers AP European History, the college is going to look for the AP!

I believe Ap got me in but colleges wont punish you if you're school dont offer them. It will help you a lot. My freshman year has been a breeze because of the Ap classes I have taken!!!!!!!!!!!

For Stanford, it's not whoever has the most AP wins. It's your intellectual vitality. You can take tons of APs and you don't have intellectual vitality you will surely be rejected.

whatever is the highest you can attend and do well in is the best.

Well AP classes are very standardized in what
you have to know, versus an honors class which
is school dependent and leaves open room for
grade inflation. AP is always the way to go :)
