This will sound like that other guy crying about how he got denied, but what the hell? I just got the letter from Honors today and it said I'd been on the wait list. I have a 1570/1600 SAT 9 AP Classes and a letter of recommendation from a college professor. I personally know people that I have scores WELL above who got in, at this decision and the Early Admission one. Can anyone tell me what's going on? And also how much of a possibility is there of getting in from the wait list?

I actually had no idea that there was a wait list for the Honors Program. I’ve never heard of that.

However, at least this is a fixable problem. Even if you don’t get in coming in as a freshman, you have opportunities at the end of your first and second semester to get in. Granted, I feel like a lot of what the Honors program does is geared towards freshman and not getting in early puts you at a disadvantage because you can’t take honors sections of easy classes to help fulfill your honors requirement for graduation, but at least you can still get in somehow. You can’t undo a flat out rejection from UGA. I got in after the 2nd semester. Instead of filling my honors requirements with honors psych, anthro, socio, etc, etc, I’ve had to honors option my upper level classes. Much harder! But hey…you’re in the honors program. It’s supposed to be a challenge.

What is your GPA?

To be honest I’m not completely sure, I moved to Georgia after my sophomore year in Illinois and the school here messed up my grades when they transferred them. I think it’s about 3.8 unweighted. However, my counselor sent a letter with my application explaining the situation and that based on my performance at my current high school, if I had gone here all 4 years I would most likely place in the top 2-3% of the class. I’m not sure if that actually means anything to the people looking at Honors apps, but I felt like it couldn’t hurt.
