My dad and I are planning to visit Tulane in April. We have looked at the prices of flights and it would be the cheapest to fly out on a Wednesday and return the following Tuesday. I noticed that there are Destination Tulane events on that Thursday and Friday, followed by the Honors Weekend. Would it be worth my time to attend both Destination Tulane and Honors Weekend? I want to get a good feel for the campus, so I'm thinking the more time on the campus, the better. Thanks!

Is the airfare really that much cheaper that it makes up for the extra nights in the hotel, the extra days of car rentals/taxi fares, the additional meals, etc? Even with two tickets, it can’t be that much more expensive, can it?

Anyway, it isn’t like there isn’t plenty to do in New Orleans that would be fun. I think doing both DT and HW would be somewhat repetitive, especially the campus tour. HW contains everything that is in DT, plus a lot more. But it isn’t like there is anything wrong with doing both, and you could sit in on more classes that way, get a better feel for everyday student life because you will have more meals on campus, talk to more students, and just observe that much more. But I wouldn’t (and I don’t think you meant this) do DT both Thursday and Friday. One day is enough.

Use the other day to explore Magazine Street, Oak and Maple Streets, walk around the Garden District and Audubon Park, or sign up for a Plantation and Bayou tour. They can pick you up at your hotel and take you to see a plantation or two, and there are packages that include a ride through a bayou. Of course there are some cool museums, the French Quarter and Jackson Square, and lots of other things to do. There are bike tours and walking tours, and of course the cemetery tours.
