Honors Weekend

Just wondering if anyone has any experience or advice when visiting campus during the Honors Weekend!

Anyone going this weekend?

We’ll be there!

@sona7662

Just attended the first weekend with my daughter. Any specific questions you would like me to try to answer?

Hi @pishicaca
Could you tell me a little bit on what you do on Monday …just wondering if it’s something that we will end up leaving and using as sightseeing time instead. Also Did you have a list of restaurants that you were given?

Monday was primarily registration for classes. You can sign up online before you go - highly recommend this as the time slots fill quickly. There are multiple open houses across a variety of departments and our daughter sat in on a couple of classes. Not as structured as Sunday so it will depend upon you.

@busymd Monday is really just a half day…we were done on campus by noon and used the time we had before our flight to sightsee. As @JG1962 mentioned, the advising/scheduling sessions set up for Monday were probably the part of the weekend that excited/energized my D the most. The exercise of putting together a schedule and working with an advisor (who spent 1.5 hours with her) helped clear up some of the "mystery’ around how she will decide on a major, what her path might be, the breadth of course offerings, etc. You do need to sign up for a time slot, so if that is something you are interested in be sure to do so. I overheard some kids who were disappointed because they did not get to participate as they were not aware of the need to actually sign up.

As far as restaurants go, we were not given a list. We are frequent visitors to the city, though, so we already knew where we wanted to go. Anyone working the program will be happy to provide suggestions and there is no shortage of good options. Enjoy your visit and let me know if you have any more questions!

Really enjoyed our time there this weekend. Great academic and extracurricular programs, nice facilities, warm and receptive folks, gorgeous weather, and tremendous city for visitors.
