I know with honors we're supposed to move-in a week early but does anyone know what the actual dates are that we can move in? Also, I'm a little confused about what welcome week is all about.

You will receive an exact date and time (should be on August 29th). Welcome week is a series of event to acquaint students with each other and both the school and Boston. Things like trolley tours, activities fairs, trivia night, trip to Target, movie on the green, etc. There are special Honors only required events during that week - honors ice cream social, a team building day (will be the day after move-in?), an event with the author for the required summer read, an honors invocation, and a walk around Boston (community service day). There will also be a big event with the school president welcoming you and a smaller event for your major (both required). The fun non-required events can fill up so get your tickets at the welcome booth right after you move in. The schedule for welcome week will be on-line - study it carefully before you go and pick what you want to attend (and also what you are required to attend). Welcome week is actually more like 10 days (spanning 2 weekends).

OK that makes sense. Thank you!

OK, I just got an email from the Honors program with the exact schedule for Honors Welcome Week events:

Thursday August 29th- Move In & Ice Cream Social
Friday August 30th- Panel & Breakout Sessions
Saturday August 31st- Ashland Ropes Course
Sunday September 1st- Induction Ceremony
Tuesday September 4th- First Pages
Saturday September 7th- Honors Outreach Project

Also, let me know if you’ve got any questions about what those things are.

Hey,

If I didn’t get an email should I be worried? I was accepted into the program and then submitted the agreement on the myNEU site, but there hasn’t been any confirmation or further contact.

Thanks.

Don’t worry, this was an email sent to upperclassmen, not to incoming freshmen! They are having a contest to design the Honors Welcome Week t-shirt, which includes having the schedule printed on it, so that was included.

As far as I recall, there isn’t anything specific you receive when submitting the Honors agreement. If you’re not sure, though, go ahead and email or call the Honors office. They’re all really nice!

Ok. Thanks so much. I was panicking for a second there.

Yeah, sorry about that.

Anybody know when we get the full list of activities, including the non-required ones that fill up?

Sometime over the summer, I think. I don’t think a lot of that type of thing is finalized yet. I wouldn’t worry about that too much. I honestly can’t think of all that much that “fills up.”

They can’t fill up until kids physically get there because they give out physical tickets when you are there for those events. Just plan in advance where you can which activities interest you.

Has the summer reading book been named yet?
