Honors - what does it mean to me?

<p>I was raised in Florida but my parents were not. We do not have a history with any Florida school and do not get into the UF vs FSU debate.
I was accepted into FSU and Honors program and would like to hear from someone who has experience or knowledge to explain why do students choose honors and what the benefits are. I have read the website and information sent but would like to hear a personal perspective.<br>
I hope to attend an honors meeting in February when I go up for an admitted student visit.</p>

<p>i heard from a current student that the Honors Program is worth it. The honors housing has wifi, and apparently the other residence halls in that area do not…
also, honors freshmen pick their classes with the seniors, which is a plus…</p>

<p>D1 was accepted to Honors and greatly enjoyed the experience. In sum, you get smaller classes, closer interaction with faculty, priority registration and greater opportunity to perform individual research as an undergraduate. You might also get some nice scholarships.</p>

<p>You also get more work, less time to complete it and more competition in class. The expectations and demands are high.</p>

<p>umm how much more work and how much less time? could you be more specific? and the honors page says that the classes arent harder, just faster, or is that bs? would you say that the faster pace is balanced out by smaller classes?</p>

<p>I know they say smaller classes are better for learning but I hate them so much. What I really dislike is how it allows for extra time for students to ask questions. I know this sounds like an insane reason, but I’m an impatient individual and 9 times out of 10 I don’t need to have to ask questions. (Unless it’s math, then I’ll be asking the whole class! :slight_smile: )). </p>

<p>But you should definitely go the honors way if you can. It would look more impressive on a resume.</p>

<p>yeah it deffinately would, but i think i’ll only take one honors class my first semester so i can ease my way into that.</p>
