guys plz fill me in on the honors programs. Can anyone take them. You do the same credits as everyone so why are they so much harder. DO u choose in U1 or U2 and do u hav to maintain a certain grade to enroll after your core courses.

what is the differnce with the single and double honors. Is the double actually harder. (because u are doin the same amount of courses as a single)

usually A- average minimum, and you can only apply after U0...
and it usually requires a lot more work course wise and sometimes a thesis option.

the double honors is when you pretty much concentrate an honors thesis in two areas... lots of work.

you will have more access to profs and smaller class size rite??? isn't that a good thing for grad school?

yes- if you plan to apply to PhD programs in the future, the honors program is the best way to prepare you for that.

ok what if i start in year U1. when u say an A- average you mean A- through your electives (in year U0) or through your core courses

You need at least B in all your courses to stick in honours usually. And you don't need to declare it until U2 (though you should enroll for honours courses already in U1).

For Joint Honours, especially, you need to declare sooner, because it's usually around 72 credits total. If you didn't take any of your "required" courses in your U0 year, that means you only have 90 credits (out of 120) left to take. Thus, you only have 18 credits left after fulfilling the required 72 credits, meaning if you don't do the courses in U1, you are kind of shot, unless you are trying to rush it in the end (which is always a bad idea).

keevly the programs seem to have the same amount of credits. the joint honors are in less detail to the single honors.
also is it not a requirment to finish the core courses set for eveyone. it is imposible to start any other courses till you finish your core courses
