Honors?

What stats do applicants need for the UW honors program?

I can't say what you need. The average gpa is usually 3.95ish with a math + verbal of 1400. You could get in with lesser stats and a great essay though.

My S is in UW Honors. 3.98 UW GPA, 2140 SAT. Strong essay, few ECs, but high level of commitment to the ones he had. As far as I know, most of his Honors friends have similar stats.

what about transfering into the honors program? Does this ever happen?

Transfer students who have participated in honors programs elsewhere or who have unusually good college academic records and have not completed a majority of their general education requirements may be interested in joining the Full College Honors Program. Those interested in entering the Honors Program must wait until they have been admitted to the University of Washington before applying to Honors. While transfer students are in the process of applying to the UW, however, they must meet with an Honors advisor to discuss the Honors requirements and options. These advising sessions can be arranged by emailing uwhonors@u.washington.edu.
