honors?

i'm an incoming freshman
at a catholic day school.
i play sports, and i want
to do other extracurriculars
there too. i don't want to
spend all my time on homework
and i don't want to go over my
head during the first semester.
anyway, i got my schedule a few
days ago, and i was placed
in three honors classes:
lit, bio, and algebra.
can i handle it?
if not, which should i drop?

Yes
you
can
handle
it
don’t
you
just
hate
it
when
people
talk
like
this
anyways
honors
are
usually
easy
APs
are
much
harder
so
yeah
there
you
go
you
will
survive
easily
so
do
not
worry
much
it
will
be
okay
ok
?
bye
see
you
later
alligator
hell
yeah
have
a
nice
day
and
remember
go
lakers

hahah, alright. thanks!
and you guys can make
fun of the way i type
as much as you want.
but i’m not going to
change it!

i hope you’re not serious…it looks good on the surface, but it’s quite unreadable

It’s like poetry - take a bunch of rather mundane sentences, break them up at random places, and they become full of profound meaning.

Yeah, you’ll be fine.

WHY would you break up sentences right in the middle? RAGE

It’s perfectly readable and understandable.

and you’re the only one that knows if you can handle it or not, based on your current capability.

okay, good. my parents
were really worried about me!
they were like, “bio might have to
go!” and i was like, wait, let me
CC it first! i’m glad i don’t have
to drop it.

CC… the overachiever’s google

Dude
you
are
going
to
be
a
freshman
so
don’t
worry
only
start
worrying
when
you
become
a
Junior
because
that’s
when
you
have
to
start
cramming
and
have
lots
of
AP
exams
and
SATs
to
study
for
extracurriculars
as
well
so
yeah
calm
down
take
a
deep
breath
freshman
year
is
easy
as
pie
i
survived
it
straight
A’s
you
can
too
no
homework
no
studying
peace
p
s
please
correct
your
way
of
typing
it
is
very
annoying
can’t
you
see
?
i
can
o
k
see
ya
take
care

because she thinks she’s
on usenet where they
flame you if your line lengths
go over 60 characters

stanford, while that was
funny, it made my eyes
bleed. seriously.
and to the op, 3 honors
classes is nothing, so long
as your school isn’t
insane.

LOL preppp don’t worry, it’s only freshman year, which is the easiest. It’s the year to get used to HS. Don’t worry at all, 3 honors classes won’t be hard at all. Wait until you get AP classes ;o

hey, your writing looks like poetry.

alrighttt, thanks.
i’m glad i don’t have
to drop anythingg.
i really didn’t want to.

You can handle it
Most people on CC
take multiple AP courses.
Unless you fail at life
You should be able to
handle it.

…Am I the only one at a school where the honors designation actually makes a difference? For most schools I’m sure the distinction isn’t too great. Still, it would be good to get a couple of opinions from people you know that have taken at least three honors classes of different subjects. You never know, you may be going to one of those rare exceptions. I know that the honors program at my school is like night and day (for the most part, varies somewhat on dept.). For example, I have like a 99% in Chemistry (fairly comp. high school) while my friends that are much better than me in Chemistry have more along the lines of high 70s and low 80s in Honors Chemistry. Since you are on CC you are probably highly motivated and at least above average in intelligence. There is definitely an advantage in the college admissions process when it comes down to taking harder classes, but I wouldn’t recommend taking honors classes in which you would get below an A- (if your school is not competitive at all) or B- (if your school is fairly to very competitive). Getting lower than a B- sends the signal that you are an overachiever yet you obviously can’t handle the course load.

My school, honors matters too. It is much harder than regular.

…it’s just that even that is pretty damn easy (well at least in freshman year)

thanks pbailey!
i’ll definitely do
some asking around.
oh, and should i be
taking geometry
instead of algebra?

Have you took an Algebra course? I’d recommend Algebra I before proceeding to Geometry.
