at UR, I noticed that some departments, such as eonomics, offer a major with honors, and that others offer a honors course sequence (such as Math 170Q).

are there any advantages (or any disadvantages) in majoring with honors and/or taking an honors sequence?

I'm undecided about my major right now, but one thing I am considering is a double major in economics and mathematics. but, I will be running track (and maybe xc) at UR and want to have a descent social life. would majoring in honors economics while taking the Math 170Q sequence be too much? thanks.

honors requirements vary by departments. Honors Math is real intense. How good are you at math, in order to get into Math 170Q you need to meet the following prereqs:
Prerequisite: Math SAT of ≥ 740, ACT ≥
33, Math AP score of 4 or higher on AB
exam or 3 or higher on the BC exam, or
equivalent.

If you can handle the work go for it. You're social life won't suffer though if you plan smart. I have a friend who is on the ski team, ultimate team and is double majoring in math (taking the 170q series) and Computer Science. So its not impossible, it'll just be a lot of work.
