Did anyone just get an admission letter for honors? When I originally checked my decision online, it hadn't stated anything, but I just got my acceptance into honors today. This is making Syracuse look a lot more appealing!

D got her letter today, too. Wish it came with more scholarship money...

I wish that as well. With only $8000 in scholarship money, it would be almost impossible for me to attend there.

I haven't heard anything yet. But I was contacted earlier about honors, basically an email telling me that I would get admission into it.

Did these letters come via snail mail or email??

snail mail, complete with a giant packet about honors. I received it at the same time as my financial aid package.

Alright, then I hope to get it by Wed.

I'm out of state (Washington), so I bet it will take awhile.

I'm OOS in California. Postmarked on the 17th

thats interesting, i wonder why they do not just add it to your admission letter, i guess i will just have to wait and see.

How big of a deal is honors? Is it really advantageous?. I have heard almost nothing about the program in relation to other honors programs such as Maryland's college park which seems to have a lot of advantages.

I just got my honors packet today.

It does bother me that you have to let them know by April 17th. I may just apply, and then make my decision, just so I still have the honors option.

I think you are talking about two different things......anyone can apply to the honors program (as padfootblack has stated, you need to fill out an app and essays), but very, very few are invited directly into the program....Syracuse is very weird about their honors program; those with higher merit scholarships are not given direct admission, those with lower stats/lower merit awards are given direct....all others have to apply

The program is very rigourous, involves a huge senior capstone project and is great for small classes in arts and sciences, especially for intro classes.......

If you are in Newhouse, architecture and some other restricted programs, honors can interfere with completion, so be careful what you wish for; it's primarily an arts and sci program, but if you enter SU with alot of AP credits in those restricted programs, you can probably handle it.....

I'm thinking I might as well accept honors even though I'm probably not going to Syracuse. That was I have the option if I get there, just like you padfoot.
