Does anyone know when we find out if we get into the Honors program? Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere else, I certainly couldn't find it. Thanks! :)

I want to say mid-February. But I’m not sure at all.

According to Mr. Meredith, the honors invitations usually follow decisions letters by about 10 days. So, that means EA applicants should be receiving them sometime soon.

Thank you so much, that’s very helpful!

So Honors invitations were supposedly sent out early last week? Did anyone receive one?

I haven’t. I’m wondering, if you’ve recieved the honors, what state do you live in? I want to know if anyone in the DC metro area has recieved one.

I havent heard of anyone getting one. I wonder if he was wrong?

I think that Honors invitations were sent out several weeks after EA acceptances last year (based on my memories of accepted Honors students bragging when they got the invitation)… and I feel like if they had been sent out already, people would be on here talking about them.

I’m wondering if admissions just thinks the letters were sent out. I called admissions when my D didn’t get an invitation. They said she was invited and should have the letter by now.

Just today my son got an e-mail from UNC about Honors Programs. Has anyone else received this? He has received nothing in the mail.

I actually got a phone call from a current student trying to convince me to come to UNC for the honors program before I even got the letter. (not this year)

I don’t think that’s what they’re doing this year because I just received an e-mail about other program offerings at UNC and the email stated this:

“It’s worth noting that these opportunities are in addition to the Honors Program, for which all first-year applicants are automatically considered. Your response to this survey will have no bearing on whether we are able to invite you to join the Honors Program. If we cannot invite you to join this year, you may apply during your second or third semester at the University. You may also take Honors courses during your first year at Carolina; typically one-third of the seats in these courses are filled by extraordinarily bright and inquisitive students who are not formally a part of the program.”

From their usage of verb tenses, it sounds like your choosing this (now) won’t affect their choosing you (future) for the honors program.

What I mean is that a current honors student called me and said, “Congratulations on getting into the honors program! Here’s why it’s great and you should come to Carolina…” before I even knew I had gotten into honors.

Edit: I now realize I may have completely missed your point. Oh well. Sorry if I missed it!

oh i wasn’t talking to you specifically btw, i was addressing people who said students should have heard by now. i mean, perhaps they have, but the wording in that email seems to imply otherwise.

did you end up going to unc honors?!

I received that email as well as the acceptance letter in the mail today!

Admissions stated they were sending letters to notify students, not E-mails. Since letters were sent out early last week, people should have heard by now.

Mystery is solved!

So if you were accepted for the honors program, you will be hearing through a letter either today or soon and will not get an email?

Enka, admission told me that if my D did not get a letter this week, to call them and they will send out another. I didn’t ask nor did they mention anything about E-mail notification. It seems they may be sending out E-mails as well.

Just curious how many people got the e-mail mentioning the five programs? I wonder if they sent this to all early applicants? This seems to be different than honors as it ends in the blurb that gc414 noted above.
