How good is Honors? Is there special honors housing? Do you get any priority signing up for classes if you are in honors?

Well, there are two honors programs: University Honors and Core Honors. I’m in Core Honors, and I have a bunch of friends in University Honors, so if you have more specific questions I can help you out. How “good” is honors kind of depends on what you’re looking for. Here’s the page for U Honors: [Seattle University - College of Arts and Sciences - University Honors - Introduction](http://www.seattleu.edu/artsci/honors/default.aspx?id=958)

University honors, you take four classes each quarter for two years, and three of those are for honors. The fourth class is up to you. The honors courses are mainly liberal arts: history, theology, philosophy, etc. Core Honors, you take honors sections of some of the courses you would take for liberal arts Core requirements anyway, and you take one honors course each quarter for three years. The other two classes you take each quarter are up to you. Both honors courses work in a cohort system, so all of your honors classes are with the same people.

There’s no special honors housing; there are only about 20-24 students in each honors cohort, anyway. University honors students get priority sign-up for classes, but that’s because they only have to pick one class that fits into the rest of the rigid schedule.

I love honors, though and I’m very glad I’m a part of it. They’re both rigorous and study interesting topics. Writing skills are a huge part of either program. What I like about Core Honors is that it’s even more seminar-oriented than other SU courses, and since you really get to know the people in your cohort, the discussions can be really fruitful and intense. For Core Honors we do social events and academic outings (e.g., going to a lecture together or a play) each quarter with all three of the Core Honors classes together.

let me know if you have other questions for sure. That was kind of the brief overview of the first things to come to mind.

That was great! Thanks!
