hook for harvard

<p>I was wondering whether the following is a hook that can significantly higher my chances at Harvard:</p>

<p>At the age of 10 (I lived in Israel at the time) I published a poetry collection which sold ~3500 copies at a fund raiser for Autistic children. This book/pamphlet received the Israeli national poetry award in 1999.</p>

<p>You should definitely tell them that; it certainly looks good. Whether or not it qualifies as a hook, I don't know.</p>

<p>It depends on whether you have continued to pursue this area. If that's it, it is probably a minor hook at best. If poetry is central to you, and you have continued to submit, then yes, probably a nice hook.</p>
