<p>I wanted to know how much difference will it make if i am a first generation college student from my family? Also, how much weightage do other hooks hold in the admissions proccess?</p>
<p>A hook is always better than no hook.</p>
<p>The only real hooks are being a recruited athlete, a URM, legacy or development (big donations) candidate. First generation is a tip factor at a small number of schools. Real hooks make chances much, much better but it varies school by school.</p>
