Hooks?

Hey, I'm wondering whether I have any hooks out of what I'll describe below, there's nothing special really, but I'm not very familiar with how it works:

I'm an international student, born in Norway. Both of my parents have high education from the Soviet Union, but left the country for work opportunities in Norway just before the Soviet Union collapsed. My sister is applying to Harvard Law this year as a graduate, if she gets in will this be considered a hook for Harvard? (I'm applying next year).

I'm half Russian and half Azerbaijani. I speak and write fluent Russian, Norwegian and English. (I attended extra Russian classes at the embassy in Norway for 8 years, Literature/History/Geography/Russian/Math).

I'm not really sure whether the above are hooks, I certainly might be way off so please help me out here :)

Thanks,
Anton

Your sister’s status won’t be a hook nor your background/languages. However, the benefit of them is that your “story” will be unique and memorable. If you have other strong areas, being “memorable” is a great positive. Good luck to you.
