they say family relation does nothin (my dad, uncle, 3 of their cousins, grandparents, great uncle, and great grandparents attended)

so what does help

Donation?
Having a family memeber as former board of regents president?
???

That you are a California resident.

how about you work hard like the rest of us

seriously....Cal, as a world class "public" educational institution, does not recognize alumini relationship or donnation at all. Some of the things they consider are probably your socioecnomic status such as your parents did not attend college, your family income is low, your living area is poor or dangerous, your high school rank falls in the last quarter of all high schools in CA (meaning you do not receive a fair education like the rest of us do)...etc, which students shall explain on their personal statements for admission to aware the situation.
All the above situations will be considered; however, I don't think they make applicants automatically in. From some of the articles I have read, UCs are trying to helping students with disadvantaged background but excellent adcademic records.

yea what jovil said....

Legacy plays no role at the UCs.

Do my stunning good looks play a role Ari?
