Hope for average high school student

I have a 3.25 gpa and 24 ACT and people keep telling they are skeptical that I will ever become a doctor. I have been working with some physicians and I am sure that is what i want to do with my life but these people are starting to get to me. I go to a tough private school though. Any comments will be appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. HS performance does not equal college performance. Many people don't find their stride academically until college to begin with. College grades certainly matter, and if you had a 3.25 in college, it'd be a different story since that would have a direct impact on your chances of getting in (no matter how intelligent you might be).

If it really is something where you can't garner medical school admission, there are other options like Physician's Assistant and Nurse Practitioner, that function in much the same way doctors do.

Finally, I know you may think you can't imagine being anything else at this point, but I'd really encourage you to do a lot more career exploration. Most HS students think that all you can be in this world is either an engineer, a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, or a businessperson. There will be the occasional accountant or scientist and a couple girls will want to be nurses, but this is such a limited list of all the possible careers that exist. So do some exploring and you may find that there's a better fit for you out there doing something else.

I appreciate it although I know I dont want to be a lawyer lol (come from a family aunts, uncles, grandparents, father are all lawyers)
