During the Summer of 2011: I attened Stanford Univeristy's summer college program. I took college courses. Abnormal Psychology- (I recieved an A) Personality Psychology- (I recieved an A).. (I wanted to show that I could compete with others because my ACT score is VERY low.)
I also participated in a lot of research and conducted some of my own.

I appreciate any advice!! Im not sure to put all my hope in one ED application or skip ED and go for EA. Thank you so much!!!!!

Other than your ACT score, you definitely look like a solid applicant. Your ACT isn’t gonna help you though, I’m not an ad com, but I am guessing if the kid who is top of his class gets a 24/36 on the ACT, it makes the school look easy to colleges (I’m not sure if it is or if Duke or any college will think this, but I think it’s easy to see that someone might think this). ED definitely gives you a slight advantage though, so apply and give it a try.

Obviously getting straight As is impressive though, I’m sure you worked really hard, but your ACT score will probably hurt you a bit. Maybe retake? EDs boost may help though, I’m not sure.

Your score is really going to make it look like your HS has serious grade inflation. If you get higher test results in October then apply ED otherwise retake, improve, and apply RD.

What state are you from? If you are from Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, or one of the Daktoas you might actually still have a good chance, as colleges want students from every state.

I am from Illinois!..think this will help at all??

thank you for your advice, i really really appreciate it!

eh probably not because I’m guessing a lot of kids from the greater Chicago area go to Duke so its not a “problem state.” Maybe apply ED?

Should I go early action instead to different schools?.

im not sure how low of an act score they will take. if i go for ED then i will for sure try to get an interview. will this boost anything?
and i am hispanic

Hispanic may boost you a little, they say interviews don’t really matter (just help to get to know you as a person and are not a formal part of the app) so take that what it’s worth. Take a week or so and think it over- if accepted you have to attend if you go the ED rout, and if finances are in issue, RD is the way to go.

I think the ACT score is going to be a killer. Try to retake it and bring it up because the rest of your application looks decent. Good luck though! :)

If it’s too late to take the ACT again, try to make sure your application is stellar.
It’s the same case for me, my SAT I probably killed my application.
Good luck with your interview!
