HOPE/Zell Question at UGA vs GATech

I noticed that I am being awarded the Zell Miller scholarship for GATech in the early estimate, and that UGA has me listed down for HOPE. I am planning to go to UGA, and I was wondering if UGA and GATech calculate eligibility for it differently. The extra bit of money will make a difference for my family. If they do not calculate it differently, any suggestions on the next steps would be greatly appreciated!

This is my first post, so if it is in the wrong place... Please feel free to move it to the right place :)

Thank you for having me.

Nope - you’ll qualify for the same thing at either place.

Thank you very much. It looks like I’ll need to give them a call!

Last year they did not show Zell Miller on my D’s early award but when the final award came out it was there. I think it had something to do with them not getting the info from HOPE before they put together the awards. But Zell Miller was new last year so that also may have had something to do with it.

Wouldn’t hurt to call and confirm though.

UGA shows Zell on my D’s early award.

I may be wrong but since Zell/ HOPE awards are now dependent on High school GPA ( as determined by GAcollege 411) the final awards probably can’t be made until after HS graduation. In theory, a senior could bomb their last semester and not qualify for either : (

For sure, Gibson. The UGA early award page that shows Zell for my D has some language to the effect that this is provisional, based on current information from gacollege411, and subject to change.

Same situation here, Weather. That’s probably why the financial aid website says that aid packages will get finalized in mid-June.

My S is a junior now. If he qualifies for the Zell next year is there any way he won’t be admitted to either UGA or GT. He has has a 1260 SAT.
