Hopeful Computer engineering major

Hi.

I’m currently a hs junior, almost a senior, and im seriously considering majoring in Computer Engineering with an emphasis on hardware and i wanted to know if like theres anything i should know beforehand. Obviously it be a good thing to know about computer/computer systems before entering into this field, but is there any courses or topics i should get familiar with before i go to college that would help? Just kinda freaking out over this kinda stuff and a little advice would relieve some of my stress. Thanks!

No need to freak. You can walk in with very little computer specific knowledge and walk out a good computer engineer. Your math level and aptitude will likely be the biggest predictor of your success. Good luck.

Alright that seems hopeful then. Im also gonna take an intro to computer programming course over the summer to get the feel for major(and also be postively sure i want to pursue this degree). Thanks!

@Kvnldn, if you haven’t already take a look at Coursera. There are a number of introductory courses on programming available there, most for free or a very reasonable cost.

Here’s a free CS101 course offered by Stanford, for example:
