Hey, I plan on applying to Notre Dame for the Spring Semester. I have wanted to go there ever since I was a little kid. I was rejected as a senior in high school and rejected for the fall 2011 semester. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get in. does anyone have any tips or advice on getting in? I know I have to get great grades and write a good essay. just was curious if anyone had any advice for me. I cant stop thinking about ND haha. Thank you!

Hi. I am in almost the same spot as you are in, except that I am only a first semester freshman at the University of Iowa. I also have always wanted to go to Notre Dame, but I was rejected out of high school. Are you taking the right courses? Make sure that you email the ND transfer office and make sure your credits will transfer. So many people apply as transfers with great college GPAs but get rejected because they do not have the right schedule. I am going to apply to ND as a transfer for fall 2012 in a few months, and I was curious as to how your freshman year went. Were all of your credits transferable? My biggest problem right now is my Calculus I class. A ND admissions counselor told me that I need at least a B in every class to transfer, but it is already almost mathematically impossible for me to get a B in Calc. I, meaning the credits for that class will not transfer and I will not meet the requirements. I was told that I could always make up a math course next summer, if I am accepted as a transfer, though. Still, I think my GPA should be, at the worst, 3.65-3.7. The average GPA for an accepted transfer student is about 3.6-3.7, I think. Make sure your GPA is around that mark. Since you have been in college for multiple years, ND might expect you to meet their credit requirements much more stringently than they would for a sophomore transfer, I would imagine. I’ve heard some other transfers to ND say that you should forget about your high school record, focus on your classes now. The single most important thing in your application is your college GPA and your schedule. I’ve also heard that most people that really want to go to ND, that build the right schedule, that study relentlessly to just have a shot at getting accepted as a transfer, and that dream about it find a way to get in. So overall, just keep thinking about walking past the Golden Dome and touchdown Jesus someday and you should be inspired to do the things you have to to get in. I hope to see you there next year.

oh nice man. My advice is to just keep working hard. Freshman year was tough for me because I go to Wake Forest and the classes are very hard. It is really difficult to get an A. But I also had a problem with calculus. I got a C in calc my first semester and it would not transfer. So i just had to take another math class here. But if you do get accepted for the fall I believe you can take a math course over the summer. If you dont meet like one requirement they usually let it slide. I would encourage you to keep in good contact with the transfer admissions people at ND. They are great people and can really help you out. Not many people know what its like to have the ND dream. It’s something you can’t describe. just keep working hard and hopefully we’ll both be walking past that golden dome one day.
