Hopefully somebody can help

Hello,

I'm going into senior year in high school and I'm not sure where I want to go, mainly because I'm not sure what I want to major in.

My biggest passion is probably film, but I also love science. The thing is, I have the grades (and a good shot) to get into a top college (Penn and lower). Unfortunately, Penn (and other top schools, except for N-Western) doesn't offer a program that's rich with film production--the Cinema Studies major is more like English, which I'm not really interested in. I want to get some real exposure to film production and what it's like to make movies.
But in order to do that, I'd have to go to a place like NYU, USC, or UCLA, which I know I could get into easily if I applied ED (I do not want to go to Northwestern). But, I'm not totally sure that I want to go straight into film. I want to be able to weight out my other options. I think it'd be a mistake to be CERTAIN that film is what I want going out of high school, which is why I'm leaning away from an NYU, etc., and more towards a Penn.

So, are there any other top schools (besides NW, for now) where you can take good film-production classes, while still focusing on other subjects. I want to be able to learn about film production without going into a Tisch or something and basing my college experience solely on film.

Or, do schools like NYU, UCLA, USC, etc., offer opportunities to take film classes AND completely different classes (say, chemistry)?

Ideally, I'm looking for a very good school that offers classes in film-production (not theory-based), while allowing students to explore other options. Does such a school exist? (Probably not, but i'm hoping you guys can direct me towards the next best thing)....

If anyone has been in a simillar situation, or knows what I'm talking about, do you have any advice???

Thank you so much in advance...

Trip, if you are interested in film, there are tons of schools out there... check out the following website link to film schools... you can do a search by state ... and also get a brief summary for each school to determine if they meet your specific interests:

aw, why so opposed to Northwestern?

Dartmouth has a film and television studies program. The college prides itself on giving students the opportunity to explore a variety of subjects (liberal arts).

thanks for the info, guys...

lilybbloom....I want to go to a college within driving distance from my home....Illinois is too far for me, for now...

wait, you're looking at NYU and USC but think that NU is too far away? Hmmm ... where the heck do you live? lol
