<p>As I enter into the September of my senior year, I find that my near final list of school choices is much different than the one I first came to this site with. And with that, I humbly request that I can get all of your input on my chances. </p>

<p>State: Illinois
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Caucasian </p>

<p>Intended Major: Political Science</p>

<p>ACT (will be retaking in October):
Highest Composite: 33 (35 E, 33 M, 34 R, 29 S, 11 W) and (34 E, 31 M, 34 R, 32 S)
Superscore: 34 </p>

<p>UW GPA: 3.944 (2 B's, neither Junior year)
W GPA: 4.556
Class Rank: 5 of about 320, or Top 2%</p>

<p>11 AP courses, or 12 tests, including senior year (3 5's, 4 4's)</p>

<p>Extracurriculars (leadership in parentheses):</p>

<p>Congressional Debate (2 year captain) (9,10,11,12)
Scholastic Bowl (4 year captain) (9,10,11,12)
National Honor Society (11,12)</p>

<p>Awards:</p>

<p>AP Scholar
AP Scholar with Distinction
State Level Awards for Debate
Numerous regional level awards for debate, scholastic bowl</p>

<p>Recommendations:</p>

<p>From APUSH Teacher: Probable 9/10
From Debate Coach: Probable 10/10
From a math teacher, although I'm not yet sure which one: Probable 8/10</p>

<p>UIUC - Safety (You’re in for sure with your stats and in-state status)
UVA - Match
GWU - Match
UChicago - Reach (but maybe you can pull off pretty good essays so that could help, UChicago’s essay prompts are pretty interesting)</p>

<p>With an intended major of poli sci, perhaps consider WUSTL, NYU and Northwestern? I’m not too familiar with the specifics but I’m fairly certain that they’re all well known in the field.</p>

Not familiar enough with the other schools (people from mine haven’t applied there) but Uchicago is of course a reach…I say you at the worse get deferred to RD. Good luck! (also applying to UVA EA)</p>

<p>If I had to guess, I’d say you get into all of them, with University of Chicago being the most iffy. Question though: does UChicago have a particularly good political science program? If so, I’ve definitely never heard about it previously.</p>

<p>Their program isn’t the nation’s top, but it is pretty well respected. Add that to the fact that U Chicago has great academic, and the fact that it is my dream school, and you get why I am applying EA.</p>
